The American Sentence
The first Read, Write, Poem prompt is up. Allen Ginsberg created this poetic form, and you can see some great examples at American Sentences. Here's how you do it:
The American Sentence has seventeen syllables—period.
Now that you have an example, it's your turn to try one for yourself.
Meanwhile, I'm taking the train to New York and will post when I return.
(Yes, all of these have been American Sentences—not too shabby!)
(OK, they are kinda shabby, but it's 5:30 a.m., you know?)
