BoA: Update

Last night, the guy at the bank in North Carolina, the one I really think is trying to help me, called to say that things seem to be on the road to correct. In fact, BoA Visa is ready to close my credit card, and they'll be sending me a check for $3,000.

Wha????

I told him the truth—that it wasn't my money, that I never paid anything, that BoA obviously paid this bill twice. I added that I'd love a new camera, though, and that if BoA decided that the $3,000 was the least they could do for all my troubles, I would gladly erase everything I've written thus far about BoA and replace it with comments about the bank's competence and urges for Americans everywhere to place their money and their trust in BoA.

Jay laughed.

No, really, I said.

If there's one thing we all know, errors in a corporation's favor are rarely discovered and rectified without consumer awareness and complaint, but errors in our favor are always discovered. And you can bet they'll be charging interest on it, too.

I've recently had the late fees taken care of by someone at the Loan department, so that's one down. Of course, I had to take care of it myself by calling numbers and punching buttons.

The Bank has still not credited two months worth of interest on the last check to my account, which they need to do. I'm not expecting to be reimbursed for my time, but they can't charge me interest AND harrass me and expect me to pay for that privilege.

Finally, my blog is now being viewed by Cyveillance, a company that protects corporations from cyber-threats like phishing, spam, and boycotts. Information about them can be found here. And BoA headquarters has also been alerted.

Surely there are bigger fish to fry. After all, I'm not alone. I've discovered dozens of websites, including Overdrafted and Bank of America Sucks, all about financial hell.

I suspect this will be resolved now that my lawyer is involved. I really don't want to cause any trouble. All of this should have been rectified with my first phone call to the bank. For heaven's sake: how could a bank bounce a check to itself? [insert echo here]
